It’s hard to believe our time together has come to an end.

After 15 unforgettable days, 7 countries, 6 different beds, and over 1,391 miles (2,240 km) of road-tripping, the Singh family and Emily wrapped up their Euro Tour in Sweden—their final stop on this adventure.

We’ve been to the Alps, explored historic cities, climbed through ice caves, stood in silence at Auschwitz, and shared laughter, tears, and a lot of snacks along the way.

We traveled by 🚗 🚕 ✈️ 🚂 🚲 🚣Walked an average of 14,000 steps a dayAnd created more memories than we could ever fit into one photo album.

A Few Beautiful Days in Southern Sweden

We wrapped up the adventure with four cozy (and sometimes rainy) days in southern Sweden, my home turf—and the perfect place to slow down and savor our final moments together.

One of the highlights was taking a boat ride down the Åhus Canals, something most tourists never get to experience. Even more special, the boat ride was on my BFF’s families boat, who shared their time and boat with us. The canals in Ahus is one of those peaceful, local gems that gives you a real feel for the Swedish beauty.

We stopped at a fish smokery for lunch—because no visit to Sweden is complete without some fresh smoked salmon—and got to introduce our visitors to a taste of tradition.

We also visited The Absolut Garden in Åhus, the birthplace of the iconic vodka brand. It’s affectionately known as the “Church of Spirits.”

And one afternoon, we walked out onto the Åhus Pier, watching brave swimmers jump into 55°F (13°C) water like it was no big deal. Just another day in Sweden!

While the rest of us stayed close to home, Ben and his friend Chance went on a few little excursions of their own. They explored Hanö Island, a beautiful, rugged place perfect for anyone who loves rocks, beaches, and peaceful woods. They also spent time walking through coastal trails and forest paths, soaking in that Swedish summer quiet.

Celebrating Ben’s 50th in the Best Way

Our last night together was extra special: we celebrated Ben’s 50th birthday with friends and family gathered around. Stories, laughter, good food, and a lot of love. There’s no better way to end a trip like this than with the people who matter most.

Zip Lines, Go Karts & One Freezing Hike

Even in the final days, the adventure didn’t stop:

  • Zip lining through the forest, where my niece and nephew conquered the toughest course—including a 49-foot drop jump that took serious guts

  • Go Karting (again!) because apparently once wasn’t enough

  • And yes, on one rainy and freezing day, we hiked to Ales Stenar—Sweden’s Stonehenge. Wet, cold, and windswept… but still powerful and beautiful in its own right.

Weather + Booking Pro Tips

We couldn’t have asked for better weather—in 15 days, we only had 2 days of rain, both of them in Sweden. Otherwise, it’s been sunshine, blue skies, and the kind of crisp air that makes everything feel like a postcard.

And here's a quick pro tip we learned the hard way: not all Airbnbs include sheets or WiFi—especially in Europe. Make sure to ask before booking so you don’t find yourself scrambling for linens or a signal!

Final Thoughts

This was our first big trip together as two families, and hopefully just the beginning of many more. The weather wasn’t always on our side, but we made it work—ponchos, extra layers, and the occasional hot chocolate helped.

What matters most is what we walked away with:Shared memories.Inside jokes.New traditions. And a bond that deepened with every mile.

Southern Sweden gave us the perfect ending: a little adventure, a little rest, and I got to share a piece of my home.

To the Singh family—thank you for sharing this journey with us. I hope we get to do this again. To our friends that joined us at different parts of the trip, JP and Chance, I hope you had a wonderful time!
